Hello!  Welcome to Hot Off The Grill, the sizzling section
at Maumee Bay Spice Company.

Grilling is healthy; grilling is fun; and it’s a great time for people when you entertain at home or meet at a park for a day of relaxation.

Nothing brings out flavor like grilling.  The smoke and charring associated with grilling add a depth of flavor unattainable by any other cooking method.

Setting the stage you’ll have to choose your grill preference.  Some like charcoal, but most prefer gas.  According to Barbeque Industry Association figures; 85% of American families own grills and fire them up more than 3 billion times a year.

There’s definitely a big difference between grilling and barbequing.  Grilling is done quickly, and the meat is seared fast to maximize juice retention.  Barbequing is similar to roasting, but foods are both smoked and cooked.  This slow cooking results in well done meats.

Charcoal grills are best if you want to smoke meats.  You can also use wood for your fuel instead of charcoal or use wood chips for flavor.

Barbequing with the charcoal (or wood) grill is the ultimate thrill for some grill jocks who enjoy building and tending a fire.  Myself, I prefer cooking with gas.  Charcoal is just too messy.

There are so many ways to bring out/or add flavor to your grilled foods.  Before grilling you can marinate your food a few hours or even overnight in some cases.  There are many different ways of using spices, rubs, butters, sauces and marinades to add zing and pizzazz to your cooking.

Here on our grilling section we’ll touch on a few of these and provide you with a few links of interest to you.
